How much do you charge for a session?
My standard fee is $250 per session.
Q: Do you offer Medicare rebates?
A: Yes, I offer Medicare rebates for eligible clients. If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your GP, you may be able to receive a rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. The rebate amount is approximately $89.65 per session. Please note that the full session fee of $250 is required at the time of your appointment, and the rebate will be processed through Medicare after the session.
Q: What is a Mental Health Treatment Plan, and how do I get one?
A: A Mental Health Treatment Plan is a plan your GP creates to outline your mental health needs and the types of treatment that might benefit you. To receive a Medicare rebate, you’ll need to first visit your GP, who will assess your mental health and determine if you’re eligible for a plan. Once your GP has written the plan, they’ll provide you with a referral to see me for therapy.
Q: Do you work with clients who have eating disorders?
A: Yes, I specialise in treating individuals with eating disorders, including binge eating, bulimia, and disordered eating behaviours. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Eating Disorders (DBT-E) to help you develop healthier eating habits, improve your relationship with food, and address any underlying emotional issues.
Q: Can I access a Mental Health Care Plan for eating disorders?
A: Yes, if you are diagnosed with an eating disorder, you can access an Eating Disorder Mental from your GP, which will allow you to claim Medicare rebates for therapy sessions. Your GP will assess your symptoms and provide a referral for treatment. This plan can help cover up to 20 sessions per calendar year, with a rebate for each session.
Q: How do I know if I’m eligible for an eating disorder mental health plan?
A: If you are experiencing difficulties with your relationship with food, body image, or eating behaviours, it’s worth discussing your concerns with your GP. Eating disorders such as bulimia, anorexia, or binge eating disorder are considered eligible conditions for an eating disorder Mental Health Care Plan. Your GP will evaluate your symptoms and recommend treatment, including therapy if needed.
Q: How long are therapy sessions, and how often should I come?
A: My standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. The frequency of sessions can vary depending on your individual needs and goals, but we typically begin with weekly sessions and adjust as we make progress. For eating disorders or complex mental health concerns, weekly sessions may be recommended to provide ongoing support.
Q: Do you offer telehealth (online) sessions?
A: Yes, I offer telehealth sessions via secure video conferencing platforms. This allows you to access therapy from the comfort of your own home, which can be especially helpful for those with busy schedules or those who prefer the convenience of remote care. Telehealth sessions are covered under the same Medicare rebate guidelines as in-person sessions, provided you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.
Q: What if I don’t have a Medicare card or I’m not eligible for a rebate?
A: If you’re not eligible for a Medicare rebate, or if you don’t have a Medicare card, I still offer support and therapy. Payment is required in full at the time of the session, and the cost remains $250 per session. We can discuss other options for funding or support if needed. asked question?
